John Smart earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. and later attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City to earn his Master of Social Work degree. John spent 15 years working at Johnson County Mental Health as both a case manager and clinician.

With more than 20 years of experience, John’s training and practice have been both extensive and progressive. Serving both adults and children, his areas of experience include diagnostic evaluations; individual therapy services; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Strengths Perspective also inform John’s approach to working with clients.

John welcomes the opportunity to help HPC patients foster their own recovery process by using their own strengths and values. He currently works with patients at our Olathe and Shawnee Mission West High School locations.
