Breast and Cervical Cancer

Breast and cervical cancer are two the leading cancer-causing deaths in women. The best way to fight these cancers is early detection and starting treatment early.

Unfortunately, many women who are uninsured or underserved do not get screenings as often or at all. HPC partners with Early Detection Works (EDW) which provides resources to help enroll and screen women who might otherwise not be getting their regular screenings.

If a screening test shows a problem, EDW will pay for most follow-up tests to find out if you have cancer or a pre-cancerous condition. The healthcare provider will work with you to make follow-up appointments.

Breast Cancer Screening

We partner with AdventHealth to provide mammography services at their Shawnee Mission site in Merriam, Kan. and with Diagnostic Imaging Centers, PA to provide onsite 3D mobile mammography at our Olathe site.

Cervical Cancer Screening

A pap test and HPV test can help prevent and find cervical cancer in its early stages. Cervical Precancer is when cells look abnormal but not yet cancerous, usually without symptoms.

The HPV test looks for the virus (human papillomavirus) that can cause cell changes on the cervix. The HPV vaccine is recommended at age 11 or 12.

The Pap test (or Pap smear) looks for precancers, cell changes on the cervix that might become cervical cancer if they are not treated appropriately. Pap tests should start at age 21.

A pap test and HPV test can be done at the same time in our clinic.
