National Nurses Week is May 6-12.

In 1993, the American Nurses Association declared May 6-12 as the national week to celebrate and elevate the nursing profession. Each year the celebration ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Florence Nightingale was an English social reformer, statistician and the founder of modern nursing.

This year’s theme for Nurses Week is 2020 The Year of the Nurse, in honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

At HPC we celebrate the important role that nurses play on the front lines of the health care system. Special thanks to Lee Champion, RN, MSN, Nurse Clinic Director and Risk Manager, for overseeing the Nursing department at HPC. Additionally, Lee serves as the risk manager and compliance officer helping to lead the charge in quality, patient safety and satisfaction. Lee’s leadership abilities are second to none.

We appreciate her commitment to providing top notch patient-centered care.

Patient Services Representatives/Receptionist Day is May 13.

Since 1991, National Receptionist Day has been celebrated on the second Wednesday of May, this year falling on May 13. HPC would like to take this opportunity to recognize our Patient Services Representatives (PSRs) who fill the role of receptionist and so much more!

According to Billie Reese-Turner, Director of Billing and Patient Services, this is the strongest team of PSRs we have had in place since she started at HPC in March of 2017.

“These ladies have taken on new policies, forms and processes while dealing with difficult patients and having challenging conversations about the financial situation of the patients and asking them for copays,” Billie says.

“They work diligently to keep up with the needs of not only our patients but also every HPC staff member” she adds. “Veronica and I are so proud of the positive team we have and the support and encouragement that they provide to us and one another.”

Thank you to our wonderful team of PSRs: Iveth Alvarado, Allyce Blume, Mayra Bocanegra, Jean Cast-Martin, Claudia Islas, Maria Pena, Michel Ramirez, Rose Ramirez Neale, Keyshla Rivera Hernandez and Rachael Steffens.

The PSRs are part of the Revenue Cycle Management team and work closely with Andrea Acosta, Enrollment Specialist, Veronica Flores, PSR Manager, Billie Reese-Turner, Director of Billing and Patient Services, and Diana Zamora, Financial Aid Coordinator.
